Back on the internet

Yesterday we set off from our mooring and retraced our steps back towards the lift, we then continued up to the head of the navigation at Winsford, passing through a couple of locks and past a working salt mine.  We didn't go out onto the flashes at Winsford but turned around and headed back.  We stopped in Northwich and John collected his parcel from the post office, this is the first time we have used the Post Restante and it worked really well so we will probably use it again. We also did a bit of shopping although I think the sun shining had taken everyone off to the shops to buy salad, I struggled to get what we wanted.  We used the services in Northwich and then continued on to find a mooring just above the lift.  It was a lovely evening so we went for a walk around the nature reserve and Anderton, calling at the pub on the way back.

This morning was bright and sunny (again!), I went up to the admin office and booked us in for our return trip up the lift.  This time we shared with another boat.  We were soon back onto the Trent & Mersey heading towards Preston Brook.  It is good to be back on the canal.  The canal follows a hillside and overlooks the River Weaver, we have had a really pleasant cruise along today.  We moored just after lunch in a lovely spot and went for a walk.  On return instead of sitting and enjoying the sun, we had to clean the boat as this morning on exiting the lift we got covered in drips and splodges of what we can only assume is silt as we were first up the lift this morning.  Its really difficult to get off especially off the canvas.

We have had a very poor/non existent phone and internet signal whilst being on the River but tonight we are back on line.
