Meandering along the Thames

Yesterday, we left Swinford passing under the toll bridge, no toll fee for us, just the traffic above!

A bit different to the Humber Bridge

& definitely much cheaper
Our journey can only be described as meandering, the river twists, turns, with the odd hairpin bend thrown in, as well, we saw very few boats all day but usually met them on the blind bends!  Through some lovely meadows and the odd house, church in the distance.

The locks were all very well kept with some lovely borders on them.  I loved the insect house at Shifford Lock!

We cruised to Radcott, where we moored for the night.

Our mooring last night

15.5 miles 5 locks (one on self service, we really need to stop getting to the locks at lunchtime!).

Today we left our lovely meadow mooring, again with a cloudy start but with a promise of warmer weather later.  We managed to do two loads of washing before arriving at Grafton Lock, mainly due to this is the last lock before Lechlade that we can get water.  Again a lovely cruise today through lovely meadows, on the meandering river.  We arrived at Lechlade this afternoon, by which time the sun was out, although still a chill in the breeze.  Our mooring tonight is before the bridge is on the meadow.  We have had a lovely afternoon, wandering around Lechlade, sampling one of the micro breweries, and having our tea, sat out on the meadow, accompanied with a bottle of two!
