Went the day well. Escaped !

We were up early, but not perhaps bright, although the day was!  Ali made her way to the stalag entrance and met the repair man at 0700.  The tunnel was flooding, so time was imperative.

Machine out, dismantled and the new parts fitted.  Testing was positive, we are good to roll.  So used the last of our electrical allowance, collected our deposit for the fob from the office and after filling and emptying, we were off.

Well as far as Willington village were Ali made a quick divert to purchase milk and fruit juice.  Thence onto Burton upon Trent.  Another stop to visit B&Q and after this we felt we had all the tools to maintain our freedom.

It was hot, bloomin hot!  We poodled along accompanied by the A38.  By Wychnoor lock we escaped its grasp and saw freedom beckoning.  Alrewas was on the horizon, our goal for the day.  We crossed the virtual border on the short river section, avoiding Kami Kazi boaters this time, and ascended into the calm of neutral territory that is Alrewas.  Showered, fed we decided to taste freedom by walking the village and having a swifty in a rather nice pub.

We are free at last and the washer works.  All is good.

  Little locks - lovely!
